Bursting of Crackers near Guwahati Refinery Prohibited

The Central Guwahati police have prohibited the bursting of crackers within a 500-meter radius of the Guwahati Refinery, Noonmati with immediate effect.

The order was passed by Deputy Commissioner ofPolice, central police district, Ripul Das under Section 144 CrPC and willremain in force till the midnight of October 29, 2019.

The order said that the use of firecrackers and bursting of crackers in the vicinity of Guwahati Refinery and the oil pipelines may cause inflammation as huge quantities of highly volatile and inflammable petroleum products are stored in the refinery and pumped through the oil pipelines passing through the central police district.

The order also says that the bursting of crackers may also pose danger to the security of the people and the installations in the vicinity of the Refinery.
