A BJP leader in Digboi has faced public wrath after posting hate comments targeting Assamese community in social networking platforms.

Identified as Teja Dey, the BJP leader is a ward member of Tingrai Gaon Panchayat. According to locals, he is close to Digboi MLA Suren Phukan.

The locals made Teja Dey stand holding placards, which read, "Joi Aai Axom. I am a BJP leader from Digboi. I oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. I am sorry for my comments."
