The cash for job scam in Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) turned more controversial as police on Wednesday arrested 19 more officials which included the BJP's MP from Tezpur RP Sarmah's daughter Pallavi Sarmah.
Of the 19 Assam Public Service officers arrested, 13 belonged to Assam Civil Services and three DSP (Deputy Suptd of Police), two officers from Tax dept and one DTO (District Transport officer).
Pallavi, a DSP of 2016 batch was posted in Sivasagar district. Earlier Pallavi's father BJP MP RP Sarmah alleged that some vested interest forces trying to defame him for quite some time and targeted his DSP daughter as involved in cash for job scam of Assam civil service.
The cash for job scam in APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) being investigated by Dibrugarh police and earlier arrested 36 officers from state civil services for their alleged involvement in the scam. Nine officials of the APSC were also arrested for their involvement in the scam.
The other officials arrested on Wednesday included ACS officer s- Utpal Bhuyan, Dhrubajyoti Chakrabarty, Moon Mazumder, Saibur Rahman, Ganesh Ch Das, Dipshikha Phukan, Leenakrishna Kakoti, Sravanti Sengupta, Monika Terongpi, Mustafa Ahmed Barbhuya, Manzoor Ilahi Laskar, Barnali Das, Sushovan Das. Three Assam Police Service officers arrested on Wednesday included Gulshan Daulagopu, Pallavi Sarmah and Bhargab Phukon. The other three officials arrested for the cash for job scamon Wednesday were Nipan Kr. Pathak, Suranjita Hazarika and Rituraj Neog.
Police on Wednesday morning summoned the 19 officers for hand written test at the Assam Police special branch office at Kahilipara. Later after the test, police arrested all the 19 officers.
The allegation against these arrested officers were that they had paid huge sum ( bribery) to the then APSC chairman Rakesh Paul and other top officials of the commission for getting top job in the Assam civil service.
All the arrested 19 officials arrested would be produced at the Court on Thursday next.
