Pratidin Bureau

Rubbishing the allegation made by Abhijeet Sharma of the Assam Public Works (APW), Assam Irrigation Minister Bhabesh Kalita on Monday claimed that there were no irregularities in his department as mentioned by Sharma on Sunday. Kalita further challenged Abhijeet Sharma to prove his allegations.

Notably, Sharma had alleged that massive corruption is going on in the irrigation department. Terming the allegations as baseless while addressing the media, Kalita said, "The schemes that Sharma spoke about were announced in 2014-15 financial year. However, the funds to the schemes have released only a few days back. The Centre has allotted Rs. 90 crore for the schemes."

"If he can prove that there was corruption or any kind of irregularities going on in department, I will felicitate him with Pator Gamocha, otherwise I would have to file a defamation case against him," Kalita added.
