Baithalangso: 2 Jailed Patients Escape from COVID Center

In a sensational incident, two jailed COVID-positive patients escaped from a COVID center at Baithalangso in West Karbi Anglong district. The criminals escaped from the Tumpreng COVID Center on Saturday night.

Both of them were arrested from Umrangso on May 29 in different cases. One of the accused Borlongki Timung was infected with the virus after which both of them have been referred to the Tumpreng covid center on May 31 in Baithalangso.

It may be mentioned that Assam on Sunday reported 2,228 new cases of coronavirus, taking the active caseload to 49,518. The positivity rate of cases is 3.03 percent yesterday.

37 Covid-related deaths were registered, while, 4076 cured patients were recorded.

The high case load districts are: Kamrup Metro (309), Cachar (281), Tinsukia (196), and Dibrugarh (170). The new cases have been reported from 73,648 tests have been conducted.

The district-wise deaths have been registered from: Tinsukia (6), Sonitpur (4), Cachar (3), Kamrup Metro (3), Nagaon (3), Darrang (2), Sivasagar (2), Udalguri (2), and a single death have been reported from Baksa, Biswanath, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Hailakandi, Kamrup Rural, Karbi Anglong, and Lakhimpur.

With a recovery rate of 87.46 per cent, the state has a total recoveries of 3,80,419.

The cumulative death tally has climbed to 3,658. The death rate is 0.84 per cent.

The overall caseload stood at 4,34,942.
