Assam Police recover stolen vehicle in 57 minutes

Assam police on Thursday retrieved a stolen car from Baihata Chariali under Kamrup (rural) district within a record time of 57 minutes.

According to the police, two people hired a car from Meghalaya state capital today and as they approached Baihata, they assaulted the driver and stole the car.The duo booked a Maruti Ertiga bearing Regn. No ML-O5/Q-8634.

The driver then quickly contacted the owner of the vehicle, Mr. Bhajanlal Bajoria who is a resident of Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, the owner of the vehicle immediately approached the state police on Twitter. Subsequently, coordination took place with the office in-charge at Baihata police station and the car was recovered in less than an hour.

The complainant Sumit Bajoria, while lauding the efforts of Assam police on the micro-blogging site, said, "I don't have words to express my gratitude to them for this."

The two men have been arrested and remanded to police custody. Sources revealed that the passengers who booked the vehicle were Rupak Deka (40) and Jakir Hussan (28).
