As we reported before, banned militant outfit ULFA-I cadres were on an attempt to burn the Indian National Flag and hoist ULFA (I) flag on the occasion of 73rd Independence day of India.
Few reports in regard to 'Burning of Indian flag' from different parts of the state made speculations this morning. Saying about the matter, Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam Kuladhar Saikia clarified that "Police have received few information on it, but yet to receive the exact locations."
As per reports, ULFA-I cadres were trying to spread an anti-Indian sentiment amongst the masses through social media.
"We did everything to give the gallantry award for late SP Gulzar Hussain (posthumously), but we don't know why he hasn't been selected for the award" : DGP said.
It is to be noted that Gulzar Hussain, the then Additional Superintendent of Police (Security), Sonitpur district, Assam was allegedly killed on 28.01.2014, near Mawriapur under Dhekiajuli police station by NDFB cadres.
Police on Wednesday filed an FIR against a Gauhati University research scholar for a Facebook post to celebrate the "joy of Pakistan" and "endorsing" the consumption of beef. DGP Saikia also emphasized the matter and said that "We are strictly monitoring such types of Anti-India activities. We are investigating the research scholar's case thoroughly.
