Assam Govt to privatise ASEB

At a time, when people of Assam are opposing the proposed disinvestment of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) with Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL), a subsidiary, that holds 61.65 percent of share of BPCL, being privatised; it has come to light that Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam government has been planning to privatise power distribution in the state.

According to sources, 4-5 companies are in talks with the Assam government to buy the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) and the government is currently planning to prepare the tender for the same.
