Assam DGP’s Security Guard Tests COVID-19 Positive

The security guard of Assam Director General of Police (DGP), Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta has tested positive for COVID-19. The guard, identified as Swapan Brahma resides in the Pragjyotish Housing Complex.

It may be said that the COVID-19 pandemic has turned into community transmission in Guwahati and the number of cases in the city are rising at an alarming rate.

State Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press conference on Sunday also said that the pandemic has started in the city now and urged the citizens to be more careful and requested to follow the COVID-19 protocols.

The minister also hinted at extending the lockdown after July 12 if the cases increase.
