Assam: Cinema Halls To Not Reopen Until Nov 13

Cinema halls in Assam will not reopen until November 13, said the cinema hall owners association on Monday. It was earlier scheduled to reopen after the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) were issued by the state government.

The Centre allowed the states to reopen theatres from October 15 but the cinema halls in Assam hadn't reopened without the guidelines issued by the government.

During a press meet today, the association said that cinema halls in the state will not reopen until November 13 next month. The decision was taken after consulting with its members, it said.

Notably, SOPs for the reopening of cinema halls in the state were issued today (Monday). They are –

  • Thermal Screening for the hall staff and customers
  • The audience who won't have any symptoms of COVID-19 will be allowed to enter the hall
  • There should be arrangements for hand sanitization in every hall
  • The audience will have to enter the halls by maintaining social distancing
  • Only 50% audience will be allowed in the theatres
  • Social distancing in lift and halls is mandatory
  • No food will be allowed inside the hall except water bottles
  • The halls should be sanitized after every show
  • The audience will have to wear masks inside the hall
