Assam bandh affects normal life

The All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union (AKRSU) has called a 36-hour Assam bandh from 5am on Wednesday to demand a separate Kamtapur state and Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the Koch Rajbongshi people in the state.

It may be mentioned that BJP assured to fulfil their demands before the 2014 Lok Sabha and 2016 Assembly elections.

The 36-hour Assam bandh affected in various parts of lower Assam under the aegis of AKRSU since Wednesday morning.

In a bid to enforce the bandh, protesters put up burning tyres on the National highway on Wednesday in Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon, Bijni, Chapar, Morigaon, Kokrajhar and other parts of the State.
