Arunachal Pradesh’s first medical college to begin academic session from today

Arunachal Pradesh's first medical college will start its first academic session on Wednesday, and Chief Minister Pema Khandu promised the full support of the state government for its smooth functioning and development.

The Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) will hold the induction ceremony of its first batch of MBBS students on Wednesday in the presence of the members of the Medical Council of India (MCI) including its President Dr Jayshree Mehta and chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu, TRIHMS Director Dr Moji Jini informed.

CM Pema Khandu chaired the third meeting of the Governing Council of the TRIHMS Society in Itanagar and declared that providing quality, affordable and timely healthcare facilities to the people is top most priority for the state government. He added that the medical college and hospital is a significant initiative towards fulfilling this commitment.

The CM assured that if the funds granted are utilised judiciously and all the processes go on according to the laid down norms, there would be no shortfalls for genuine demands.

The Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences College and hospital reportedly has 50 MBBS seats and a 300 bedded hospital. According to a press release, CM Khandu has given a nod to the proposal of increasing the intake of MBBS students from 50 to 100 and raising the number of beds in the teaching hospital from 300 to 500.
