The NHPC may face fresh agitation from Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) over the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHEP). KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi who has been opposing the 2000MW project, on Friday, threatened to launch a fresh agitation.

Speaking the media in Guwahati, Gogoi said that they would never allow the NHPC to construct the big dam. "We will never allow the NHPC to restart the work till the issues concerning people in the downstream areas in Assam are addressed properly," said Gogoi.

Gogoi further reiterated, "NHPC should shut down their construction process, otherwise they would have to face massive wrath of the public."
