The Assam government under the SOUVAGYA scheme is reportedly all set to provide electricity connection to all households by December 31st this year .
Replying to a question in the assembly on Tuesday, Power Minister Tapan Kumar Gogoi said that 78 per cent works have already been complete.
Gogoi informed that the remaining over 13 lakh families will get connection by this year. He also said that 40 thousand solar connection would be given at difficult areas.
The minister also said that 3,500 appointments to be given in the Power sector in the state.
Replying to a query, PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Rs 5000 crore have been earmarked to construct new roads under 'Asom Mala' project.
He said that under the project, main roads will be constructed in the next 3 years in the state.
