Under the patroge of a powerful ministers of the Sarbanda Sonowal-led State Government, the supari and coal syndicate is going on in Assam. This was alleged by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief adviser Akhil Gogoi at a press meet on Tuesday.
Akhil Gogoi said that the priority of the BJP government, before elections was to stop the syndicate in Assam but they haven't taken any major steps till now.
He alleged that the BJP-RSS people are involved in the syndicate. He said that in Assam there are presently two active syndicates. One is coal and the other is supari.
A person named Babul alias Abdul Hannan has been running the supari syndicate in Golaghat. The betel nuts bought from Myanmar are stored at Golaghat. Betel nuts are also smuggled from Indonesia through Assam.
The illegally trade of supari from Myanmar and Indonesia to Assam was being controlled and run from Golaghat and Barak Valley, he alleged. Dipankar Dev and Anjan Paul were the key players of the supari syndicate.
He also alleged that Dipankar Deb is minister Pariman Suklabaidya's close associate.
Gogoi asked Parimal Suklabadiya to clear his stand over the allegation.
He said that the DIG and SP of Cachar district Rakesh Roshan are involved in the syndicate.
He also alleged that in the illegal syndicate, a section of superior officers of the Agriculture Marketing Board were involved and the supari syndicate was controlled from Golaghat district under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police of Golaghat, Mabendra Dev Ray. The Golaghat SP receives political protection from Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, alleged Gogoi.
There are many illegal godowns across the state at Golaghats Sinatoli, Numaligarh and many student leaders are involved in the syndicate at Rangia.
The Leader also alleged that the police of Golaghat, Cachar and Karbi anglong are involved in it and a powerful minister gets a huge chunk of money through his subordinate.
He appealed to the Sarbanda Sonowal government to take immediate action to stop the syndicate within the month otherwise the KMSS, with help of people, would come out against the supari syndicate.
