Anti-C(A)A Row: Airlines cancel flights in Assam

Pratidin Bureau

Airlines on Saturday evening canceled flights to various places in Assam in the wake of unrest in the state. A total of 9 flights have canceled in Guwahati.

Reportedly, 4 flights between Guwahati and Dibrugarh had canceled along with each one flight of Guwahati-Agartala, Agartala-Guwahati, Guwahati-Kolkata and two more flights between Guwahati and Delhi.

Assam has been witnessing unrest in the wake of protests against the C(A)A, which was passed by Parliament on Wednesday.

The proposed amendments seek to grant citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan facing persecution there. Guwahati, the epicenter of anti-C(A)A protests, was placed under indefinite curfew on Wednesday night while the Army was called in at four places.
