AHSEC Results: Sipajhar Student Defies Odd; Shines

Pratidin Bureau

Defying every odd in life, Sipajhar's Simanta Nath of Gorukhuti village in Assam's Darrang district has brought smiles on the faces of the entire village neighbourhood. And the reason for this smile is the success he has achieved in the Assam Higher Secondary Examinations, the results of which were declared on Saturday (May 25, 2019).

Neither he has secured a position nor has he scored some excellent grades. He, however, has passed the exam scoring a humble 150 marks and obtaining a Third Division grade overall.

However, what makes thisfeat memorable is that Nath appeared in the HS examinations after a gap of fiveyears.

He appeared and passed the HSLC examinations five years ago. But acute financial crisis forced him to leave studies midway. He looked for jobs to support his family. But even after five years when he did not find a decent job, Nath decided to sit for the HS examination and finally passed it, spreading smiles in the entire neighbourhood.

Appreciating Simanta's effort, a section of villagers celebrated his result by bursting crackers and felicitating him with an Assamese 'gamosa'.
