Ahead of Modi’s visit AGP Takes Out Torchlight Rally

Pratidin Bureau

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Assam, regional political party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) took out torchlight processions in Guwahati in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on Friday evening.

Along with AGP leaders Atul Bora, Ramendra Narayan Kalita and others, several hundred members of the party joined the march. Members of AGP sharply opposed CAB and shouted various slogans against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP government.

"If the bill is passed in Rajya Sabha, it will render the Assam Accord null and void and will also make the NRC process meaningless," said Atul Bora, AGP president, while taking part in Guwahati procession.
