Many times, singer Zubeen Garg has come out to protest against the Citizenship Bill. Recently the singer had met the delegation of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and decided to initiate a series of protests against the government's move.
After meeting with AASU delegation, Zubeen announced that he would take part in the mass agitation 'Braja Ninad' to be carried by AASU and 30 other organisations of the State at the Latasil playground here on January 23. Zubeen, AASU have urged the all communities of Assam and intelligentsia to wholeheartedly extend cooperation in the series of protests.
Zubeen expects his fans to join in the 'Braja Ninad' against the Government's move.
The city police are fully prepared and ready to prevent any untoward incidents from happening during the rally on Wednesday – as per sources.
On the occasion of Silpi Diwas on January 17, Zubeen took part in a protest along with Sonitpur district AASU to protest against the Bill.
In an open letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on January 7, Zubeen had slammed the State government and threatened to launch a movement against the Bill if the situation does not change within a week.
