AASU sweeps G.U polls

All Assam Students Union (AASU) have bagged the major posts  in the Gauhati University's Post Graduate Students' Union  elections announced on Tuesday evening.

Lacukymoni Barua and Nayan Jyoti Gogoi have been elected as the president and the general secretary of Post-Graduate Students' Union (PGSU) . Both candidates were backed by AASU.

Jitu Moni Kalita  was elected as the Vice President of the PGSU. Helena Swargiary backed by Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), the students' wing of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), won the post of assistant general secretary. Hirakjyoti Sarma was elected as Cultural Secretary. Ananya Sharma was elected as the Music Secretary. Devid Nath was elected as Minor Games Secretary while Bidyut Bikash Barua won the Literary Secretary post. Subham Deb won the Sports Secretary post defeating his counterpart Urkhaw Basumatary. Navajyoti Das was elected as Social Service Secretary.

Four candidates, including Himangshu Das (Boys' Common Room Secretary), Lipika Hazarika(Girls' Common Room Secretary) and Saurav Paul (Gymnasium Secretary), Khungkhara Basumatry( Major Games Secretary) were elected uncontested

In total, 15 candidates have been elected to the different offices of the PGSU.
