AASU Observes Mass Satyagraha Over Price Rise

Pratidin Bureau

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has observed 2-hours 'Mass Satyagraha' against the rising prices of fuel and other essential commodities. The students' body has staged the protest across the state.

In Majuli, hundreds of members of the students' body raised slogans against the government for rising fuel prices and essential commodities. In Majuli, petrol costs Rs. 106 per litre. The students' body criticized the government for its failure in controlling the price of the essential commodities.

Similarly, in Lanka, the district students' union has observed the Satyagraha in front of the DC office protesting against the soaring price of essential commodities.

AASU Adviser, Samujjal Bhattacharyya said, "The government has failed to control the price of essential commodities. The common people are in a dilapidated condition as they can't go to markets for the sky rocketing price of commodities. The price of onion and potato are 50-70 rupees per kg which is very outrageous. The petrol and diesel prices have hit centuries. How will the common people survive if such is the scenario."
