All Assam motor transport association (AAMTA) has decided to hike the bus fare from October 3.

The minimum bus fare of the city buses in Guwahati will be Rs 7.50 and that of Magic's will be Rs 15.

The price of diesel is increasing every day the bus owners were finding it difficult to ply their vehicles. There is a need to increase the fares as there is no sign of reduction of diesel price – said AAMTA general secretary Pradip Das.

Due to rising diesel prices, the Association has announced on Friday to hike bus fare by 50%.

The new fares will be effected from October 3. He added.
