AAMTA calls 24-hr chakka bandh Today

Pratidin Bureau

All Assam Motor Transport Association (AAMTA) has called for a 24-hour- Chakka Bandh starting from 5 am on Thursday.

AAMTA has been demanding for fare hike since 2016 after the hike in diesel prices and vehicle registration fee.

The organisation has threatened severe protests post-Durga Puja.

Assam transport minister Chandra Mohan Patowary in August earlier this year met the AAMTA officials and assured of the fare hike : AAMTA said.

"The department has not paid any heed to our demands," AAMTA state vice president Bhaben Bhattacharyya said.
