3 NSUI leaders detained for extortion

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, three leaders of Congress' student wing- National Students' Union of India (NSUI) detained by Basistha Police in the wee hours of Wednesday for their involvement in extortion.

According to reports, the leaders of the NSUI identified as Pranjal Hadi, Dhiraj Nath and Najimuddin Ahmed were detained after they allegedly threatened the owner of a fuel station- Raj Service Center near Basistha Chariali in the city. The leaders of the organisation brought rod and stick along with them and visited the fuel station and forcefully obtained money from the cash box of the station last night.

Meanwhile, owner of the fuel station has registered a case against the leaders in the Basistha Police Station following the incident.
