2 PHE employees arrested by anti-corruption sleuths

Two employees of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) have been arrested in Lakhimpur on Tuesday. The arrested were identified as Rohini Gogoi and Ajit Sonowal.

The anti-corruption sleuths of Assam Police arrested the duo for allegedly demanding Rs. 1 lakh against releasing the salary of an employee. Arrested Rohini Gogoi is said to be the head clerk of the PHE department, whereas Ajit Sonowal is the accountant of the department.

Basedon the statement of the son of an employee – Tularam Saikia, who passed away in2018, the anti-corruption sleuths arrested the duo.
