12-hour Assam bandh today

Pratidin Bureau

The Assam unit of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal has called a 12-hour state-wide shutdown on Friday to press its demand for scrapping final NRC : As per reports.

The Rashtriya Bajrang Dal is also demanding the preparation of a fresh citizens register with 1951 as the cut-off year.

Meanwhile, Bandh rumours are doing rounds in Assam. Leaflets were circulated a few days back which stated that Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal has called for a 12-hour Assam-Bandh on September 6, 2019, as a mark of protest against the published draft of NRC.

VHP made it clear that neither VHP nor Bajrang Dal has called for a bandh. VHP also mentioned that they do not have anything to do with this bandh and they are not supporting it.
