In a sensational incident, a group of miscreants allegedly physically assaulted an official of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Guwahati on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Pinak Sonowal, the Sub-Inspector (SI) of the CID, sources said.

The incident reportedly occurred at the B. Baruah-Solapara Road in Guwahati this evening.

As per preliminary information, though Sonowal tried to lodge an FIR, the Paltan Bazar Police has refused to register a case in this regard.
