A massive fire broke out in Guwahati's Satgaon locality on Sunday, reports said.

According to preliminary reports, the fire erupted at an open space adjacent to the Satgaon Primary Health Center. A large quantity of gas pipes were piled up in the open space which abruptly caught fire and turned into an inferno, reports added.

However, the exact reason of the fire has not been ascertained till the filing of this report. It is further suspected that miscreants may have set the pipes on fire, locals said.

Fire tenders were rushed to the incident spot to douse the blazing inferno. Fortunately, the people of the locality did not incur any loss due to the swift action of the fire fighting personnel.

However, a huge quantity of the gas pipes were gutted in the major fire.
