Pratidin Bureau

The Google as well as the Apple, have removed the Chinese video sharing application TikTok from Play Store and App Store respectively. The move was taken following a direction from the India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Apple has removed the app completely on Wednesday, whereas the app was removed from the Google Play Store on Android yesterday.

Earlier, the Madras High Court on Tuesday refused to suspend the ban on TikTok and appointed Advocate Arvind Datar as independent counsel in this case. On the other hand, the Supreme Court will hear the matter on April 22.

Meanwhile, reacting to Madras HC's order, the company said, "We have faith in the Indian judicial system and we are optimistic about an outcome that would allow over 120 Mn monthly active users in India to continue using TikTok to showcase their creativity and capture the moments that matter in their everyday lives."
