Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has resigned as the chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) owing to professional commitments.

In his resignation letter, Kher is reported to have said that due to his commitment to a show, he will be stationed in the US for a long period.

"it would not be fair on his part to hold a position of such responsibility and accountability, without being actively involved in the operations of FTII," Kher said.

His resignation letter has been accepted by Information and Broadcasting Minister, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore who thanked Kher for his services to the premier institute.
