Rs 3,466 crore financial assistance to repair 198 dams

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved financial assistance of Rs 3,466 crore for repair and safety of 198 dams in the country.

IT and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced that "Under Prime Minister's chairmanship, CCEA has approved financial assistance of Rs 3,466 crore for safety and repair of dams in the country.

The CCEA also approved equity investment of Rs 1,033 crore for setting up a Coal Gasification based fertilizer project at Talcher in Odisha by Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited.

The revival of the Talcher project will ensure huge investment in the fertilizer sector from the Government through PSUs which will create job opportunities and boost the economy of the State and the eastern region.
