India hikes tariffs on 28 US products

India on Saturday hiked the customs duties on as manyas 28 US products, following the higher tariffs imposed by Washington on Indianproducts. The 28 products includes almond, pulses, walnut and others.

Following the move, the American exporters will have to pay higher taxes and increased customs duties will come into effect from Sunday.

"Implement the imposition of retaliatory duties on 28 specified goods originating in or exported from USA and preserving the existing MFN rate for all these goods for all countries other than USA," said Central Board of Indirect taxes and Customs, while amending its June 30, 2017, notification.
