The only child of retired RKB Higher Secondary teacher Dulal Sharma, of Purani Gudam in Nagaon and Nagaon deputy divisional officer of APDCL Dev Dulal Sharma, died tragically in a road accident on Tuesday night.
Along with two associates, junior engineer Ashish Mahanta and divisional contractor Vasant Saikia, were coming in a Sports car from Tezpur to Naltali Laokhowa Nagaon link road when 35-year-old Dev Dulal Sharma was killed on the spot in a tragic accident involving a girl under Rupahi police station.
On the other hand, the contractor, Vasant Saikia, who was seriously injured, is undergoing treatment in Nagaon in a critical condition but the other fellow passenger and fellow engineer Ashish Mahanta, who was generally injured, has already been allowed to leave the hospital at the end of first aid.
According to reports, the serious accident occurred suddenly when they were approaching their house on Panigaon Shantiban Road in Nagaon city from Tezpur by a Sports car, bearing registration number AS02A1800 along with two accomplices.
The incident took place when the car jumped into a speed breaker after crossing a road hole lost control and hit an electric pole on the side of the road. It is estimated that due to heavy rains at that time the car lost control had to crash in a tragic accident.
Dev Dulal Sharma who passed out of Assam Engineering College and work in Nagaon, belong to a very well to do family in Nagaon. Both of his parents were teachers and were known to be very vocal people in Nagaon and Purani Gudam.
The death of the only son has left them along three-year-old little girl and wife of Dev Dulal Sharma in mourning and helpless condition. Devdulal's death has saddened everyone who is in a relationship with the family. Fellow officers and his senior officials at APDCL are also saddened to learn about the incident.
State power minister Bimal Bora and MLA Rupak Sharma also expressed deep grief over the death of Dev Dulal Sharma and extended condolences to the bereaved family. His last rites were performed in the presence of teammates and well- wishers at the public crematorium in Nagaon.
