Last year Bollywood poster boy Sushant Singh Rajput shook the country with the news of his sudden demise- an alleged suicide.
The 34-year-old actor was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020.
However, the aftermath of the Dil Bechara actor's death remains perplexing. Soon after his passing away, his father KK Singh filed an FIR accusing Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty of abetting suicide and money laundering.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment. His team issued a statement confirming the news of his death. "It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work as they have done so far. We request the media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief."
The case was registered by Bihar Police and was later transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
A year later the top investigating agency remains closed-lipped on the findings of Rajput's death. Infact any developments in relation to his death never came in the foreground.
A source said to the Indian Express, "While the CBI case did not see any activity, the NCB managed to make several arrests linked to the Rajput case." Recently, the central agency also arrested Siddharth Pithani, flatmate of Rajput, in connection with the narcotics case as well.
On Sushant's first month death anniversary, Rhea Chakraborty who was summoned by the investigating agency broke her silence and shared a couple of pictures with Sushant and said, "I know you're in a much more peaceful place now. The moon, the stars, the galaxies would've welcomed "the greatest physicist" with open arms. Full of empathy and joy, you could lighten up a shooting star – now, you are one. I will wait for you my shooting star and make a wish to bring you back to me," an excerpt of her post read.
On September 8 after being interrogated by top law and order enforcement agencies, Chakraborty was arrested. On October 7, Rhea was released from jail on bail.
Meanwhile, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted drug use in Bollywood and called in several high-profile actors.
Her brother Showick was arrested too and the NCB chargesheeted 33 people in the case and NCB is still investigating the matter. The latest development in the case as on record is that a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court (SC), questioning the CBI to give a status of their investigation in relation to the case. However the SC rejected the plea and asked the petition to be moved to a high court.
